What’s the point?
I can’t do it, I can’t participate in something that I am fundamentally against.
Being assigned a three page illustration that is to be submitted to a contest to illustrate a childrens book before even being given any guidance on how to draw in the first place. This is an intro class, this is the class where you learn how to draw, not an illustration class. For the first big assignment to be three illustrations is not appropriate.
I paid for this class to learn, let’s emphasize LEARN, how to draw not because I wanted to refresh myself on the subject. If I had wanted to do this I would have found the competition myself and entered by choice. Having this class do this as a graded assignment this early on in the semester is absurd.
Doing this for the sake of teaching young kids about the water cycle….you are having your class do something they may not even be prepared for just because you think it’s a good cause. You had better rethink your objectives a little next time.
